Apply once or twice daily after cleansing, toning and exfoliating. Dispense 2-3 drops and add to your favorite moisturizer or serum. May also be used alone. For daytime, follow with a broad-spectrum sunscreen rated SPF 25 or greater. May be applied around the under-eye area.
RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster may be mixed with any of our moisturizer or serums that don’t have sunscreen (for daytime you would apply the Oil Booster first and then your moisturizing sunscreen); which one is best for you depends on your skin type and concerns. For example, if you have dry to very dry skin, you’d want to mix the Oil Booster with Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer and/or the Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. You do not need to mix the Oil Booster into both your moisturizer and serum, but doing so is an option.
Can I use this oil if I have breakout-prone skin that’s also dry?Yes, although as with any oil or more emollient ingredient, we cannot guarantee that doing so won’t cause a breakout or make oily skin feel oilier. When it comes to moisturizers and breakouts, you need to experiment to see which products work best for you.
On a more affirmative note, many of the plant-based oils in RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster have skin-healing and anti-inflammatory benefits which can be wonderful for helping breakout-prone skin look and feel better.
For best results, try mixing a drop or two of the Oil Booster with your usual moisturizer without sunscreen once per day, at night, after you’ve applied your acne treatment products. For daytime, you can apply the Oil Booster first and then your sunscreen.
Is RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster suitable for rosacea-affected skin?Yes! In fact, it is highly likely to improve symptoms of rosacea such as redness and sensitivity. That’s because this blend of oils is chockfull of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and barrier-repairing substances that can strengthen skin’s surface and its ability to withstand damage.
Is it OK to apply this oil around my eyes or mix it with my eye cream?Yes; however, because this is oil it can “slip” into the eye if you get it too close to the undereye area, as is true with any skincare product. You don’t want to get it directly in the eye.
Can I use RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster as my moisturizer, or do I need to use a separate moisturizer, too?It is perfectly fine to use RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster as your moisturizer; however, for best results we recommend mixing it with your regular moisturizer (or serum), or applying it first before your sunscreen as this combination will treat your skin to a broader range of beneficial ingredients. Facial oils can be great but they’re not necessarily an all-in-one solution for all skin types or concerns.
You have several moisturizers, serums, and this moisturizing oil booster; which one is right for me?We offer lots of options so we can make sure each skin type is served as well as someone’s personal texture preferences. That means there’s likely more than one mix of Paula’s Choice moisturizers, serums, and boosters that will work for you. For best results, begin with your skin type, and then consider texture preference. For example, if you have normal to dry skin, do you prefer your moisturizer has a lotion or cream texture? Consider other products you’ll be applying, and whether or not your moisturizer should be lighter due to layering with other products, including makeup, during the day. Experimenting is part of the process and you can always ask for samples.
The bottom line is that there will be more than one moisturizer, serum, etc. that’s right for you, but with Paula’s Choice, you can be confident that regardless of which one you choose you’ll be giving your skin great ingredients it needs to look and act younger, healthier, and feel smooth.
How is RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster different from Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum, which is also for dry skin? These two products have different ingredients and different purposes. Skin Recovery Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum has a silky, serum texture that is based around silicone plus smaller amounts of plant oils. The serum also contains a mix of anti-aging ingredients including retinol and vitamin C. Its main purpose is to supply skin with a rich blend of ingredients to fight signs of aging and build collagen.
In contrast, RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster is primarily non-fragrant, moisturizing plant oils plus skin-repairing ingredients like ceramides and cholesterol. Its main purpose is repairing, healing, and smoothing dry to very dry skin or dry areas of skin on the face or body.
Combining both products produces a powerhouse formula that can significantly improve dry skin, leaving it feeling wonderfully smooth, soft, and with a radiant, youthful glow.
Do I apply RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster all over or just as a spot treatment?Either application method is fine; choose based on where your skin looks and feels dry.
Is RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster OK to use with topical prescription products like Retin-A?Yes. For best results, apply your prescription product, allow it to set, and then follow with RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster either mixed with your regular moisturizer or serum or applied on its own.
At what point in my routine would RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster be applied? If you plan to mix a few drops of this oil with your nighttime moisturizer, you would apply RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster after cleansing, toning, applying an AHA or BHA exfoliant, and serum. During the day it would go on before your sunscreen. If you prefer to mix the oil with your serum, you’d do so after applying your exfoliant, and then finish with your moisturiser.
If you’re using an additional treatment product for dark spots or another concern, apply the treatment product first, and finish with RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster, either mixed with your moisturizer or applied on its own.
Is RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster a good product to use on stretch marks?Applying topical products such as plant oils or any skincare product promising to prevent, reduce or eliminate stretch marks doesn't work, and there is no research showing otherwise. Massaging skin with rich emollients and creams may feel nice and it is helpful for dry skin, but the purported benefits of such products only add up to myths and anecdotal accounts mixed with hope, because stretch marks are not caused by dry skin. The depth of stretch marks —far below the skin's surface—and the extreme strain, stress, and trauma needed to break down the skin's support structure, is damage beyond the reparative or preventative capability of any moisturizer or oil.
